Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart is ablaze with excitement as Offset, one-third of the iconic group Migos, makes a triumphant return, debuting at No. 2 with his latest album, “Set It Off.” Released on October 13 via Motown/Capitol Records, the album’s impressive debut on the chart is a testament to Offset’s enduring appeal and musical prowess.
During the tracking week ending on October 19, “Set It Off” achieved an impressive feat by accumulating 70,000 equivalent album units in the United States, according to data from Luminate. This achievement speaks to Offset’s remarkable ability to captivate and resonate with his audience.
Delving into the specifics of this remarkable first-week performance, streaming activity emerged as a significant contributor, accounting for 44,000 units. This figure equates to a staggering 59.1 million official U.S. audio and video streams of the album’s tracks. Offset’s powerful presence on streaming platforms is a testament to his enduring popularity.
Traditional album sales also played a pivotal role, contributing 25,000 units to the album’s initial success. This demonstrates that Offset’s appeal extends beyond digital streams, with fans eagerly acquiring physical and digital copies of “Set It Off.”
The remaining units are credited to track-equivalent album units, a versatile measure of consumption. Each unit represents either one album sale, ten individual tracks sold from the album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams for a song on the album.
With “Set It Off” debuting at No. 2, Offset has matched his career-best rank on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart as a solo artist. His first solo endeavor, the collaborative “Without Warning” album with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin, also claimed the runner-up position in 2017, as did his solo album “Father of 4” in 2019. As a member of Migos, Offset and the group have charted an additional seven albums, including two No. 1 hits, “Culture” (2017) and “Culture II” (2018).
But the success of “Set It Off” doesn’t end there. The album has also made waves on the Top Rap Albums chart, entering at No. 2, and it’s caught the attention of music enthusiasts across the board by taking the No. 5 spot on the all-genre Billboard 200.
Offset’s “Set It Off” is not just an album; it’s a testament to his artistry, versatility, and enduring impact in the world of music. With such a strong debut, it’s clear that Offset is poised for another chapter of success, and fans can’t wait to see how “Set It Off” continues to make waves in the weeks to come.
